Have you ever imagined a boat ride in the highest navigable lake in the world, walking in the most important Island of a sacred lake (an area where only those who belonged to the Inca royal family were allowed), visiting the first Inca ruins that will transport you to the past and help you understand why this Island is considered the Inca cradle? Description
We pick you up from your hotel (downtown area) around 7 a.m. Together with the guide you’ll go to the city of Copacabana. Here we’ll have lunch and we can visit the church (colonial architecture) or a local market. Then we’ll take the boat to the Sun Island where we’ll visit some ruins, both from the Inca – and Tiwanaku (Pre-Inca) culture. Optional we walk up the Inca stairs to enjoy some magnificent views of the lake.
After the Sun Island, we take the boat and then bus back, arriving to La Paz around 10 p.m. Usually we grab a sandwich in Copacabana to eat on the bus.
NOTE: All our tours to Copacabana are possible to realize in private transports with private guides as well.
It’s also possible to end the tour in Puno, Peru.
There’s also the option of visiting the floating Islands, but only for the 2 or 3 days tour.
