This is a fantastic trek, not difficult, it can be achieved by most people without any problems. The Chiarkhota lagoon is a beautiful place, and for a little more demanding tour it’s possible to get to the Pico Austria Mountain summit. An excellent viewpoint of the entire Cordillera Real Mountain range.
Description
We pick you up from your hotel around 8 a.m. It takes about 2,5 hours to get to the starting point of the trek. From here to the lagoon, it’s about 1,5 hours of walking. At the lagoon we have a light lunch and enjoy the views.
There’s also the option of trekking from the village of Tuni, where we can observe some settlements in the Bolivian highlands. From Tuni to the lagoon it’s around a 3-hour trek.
After lunch at the lagoon, 1,5 hours of walking back to our vehicle from where we go back to La Paz, arriving between 3 and 6 p.m. depending on the route we took.
The tour takes around 8 hours.
NOTE: For ascending Pico Austria, you should be acclimatized to the altitude of La Paz. Please contact us for prices and more information if you’re interested in that.
