The world’s most dangerous road or the death road is one of the most beautiful roads in South America. With drop-offs of up to 2000 feet, waterfalls and a descent of 3500 meters, from the Andes to the tropical Yungas, you will enjoy this biking adventure for sure.
Don’t let the name scare you off too much, since there is now a new road, which is used by most vehicles. Today this route is mainly used by mountain bikers.

Description

The tour starts at 7:00 AM. to 07:30, we pick you up from your hotel to go by private transport to La Cumbre the top (4700 M.A.S.L.). Here we will have some training, the chance to try out the equipment and go through some safety information. The first descent consists of about 30 minutes on asphalt road, it is an easy stretch where you will have time to get to know the bike. After this, we have half an hour in the bus, and then the actual “death road” of dirt starts. There are stops for snacks and photos along the way. There is always a safety vehicle behind and if you feel tired you can go in the vehicle whenever you want. In total the route is 63 km. We finish the biking in Yolosa, around 2 PM, where we have a buffet lunch in a hotel with showers and swimming pool. We will arrive in La Paz around 08:00 PM.

BIKES
Which bike to choose?
The part of the tour which is on gravel road (3 – 4 hours) is a bit bumpy, there are some potholes and rocks along the road. With a front suspension bike you´ll need to stand up (on the pedals) most part of the way. With a double suspension bike you will be more comfortable and can sit down for the most part. Both bikes have a hydraulic-oil brake system (and disk-brakes) which makes it easier to pull the brakes. We check every bike the day before to keep security at a maximum.
